1 Timothy 2:1-7
Pray for Those in Authority
1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles.
Acts 17:29-32
God Raised Jesus from the Dead
29 “Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill. 30 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31 For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”
32 When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, “We want to hear you again on this subject.”
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus the Same, Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
St. Paul urges us to pray for those in authority around the world so that people may live peaceful and quiet lives in all Godliness and holiness...This is good when man is allowed to live a quite and a peaceful life...It is good when the people in authority follow the ways of God...And this pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the Truth...For there is only One God and One Mediator between God and mankind, the Man named Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all people...This has now been witnessed to at the proper time...And two thousand years later, He still lives...The Truth is the Truth forever and ever...
As we pray for people in government and authority, we know that over time people and things change...May governments be guided by God and His Son...Men change, and men's ideas change over time...Also men's faith can change...For many faith is a process...Faith can take time and one's faith can change...Faith can start out weak and become stronger...And in other cases, a man's faith may decline over time...
So let us follow the Truth that does not change...
Man wants and tries to come to a knowledge of Truth, but often has trouble in doing this...But as things around us change, one thing does not change...And that is God...There is still One God and One Mediator between God and mankind, and that Man is Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all people...This has witnessed when He died and came back to life...And the resurrection is a mysterious thing, but so is coming to the knowledge of the Truth...Believing this may also be a process and take time...May our laws be fashioned out of Their values and Their teachings...But not only our laws, but also our daily lives...May we do our best to follow the teachings of God's Son...May His teachings lead us to kindness, inclusion of all, faith and to the knowledge of Truth...
