Hebrews 5:7-10
Our True Path to God
7 During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. 8 Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered 9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him 10 and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.
Jesus is compared to the High Priest Melchizedek...In Genesis 14 Melchizedek, a priest of God Most High, blesses Abraham... Abraham gives Melchizedek one tenth of his spoils of battle against Kedorlaomer, King of Elam...
Jesus is compared to the High Priest during Abraham's time...The High Priest was the peoples assistance, way, and pathway to get closer to God...Jesus is now our path, our way to the LORD...
Jesus lived on earth, He prayed often on earth, and He taught on earth...When He died, God saved Him from death...His death saves us from death and our belief in Him gives us eternal salvation...Jesus' resurrection means He is our Savior of today... He is alive...
