Genesis 1:1
God Creates the Heavens and Earth
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Hebrews 11:1-3
By Faith
1Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. 2This is what the ancients were commended for.
3By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
We can look around and see the sun, the sky, the stars, trees, the earth and know we have a heavens and earth...Our knowledge of seeing the sun, the sky, and the stars is believing...Faith is a little different...Faith is hoping what we can understand better these things we don't quite understand, and being more certain of these things that we cannot see...We did not know what was here before the heavens and earth were created...We must have faith in how they were created...Faith does not give us the complete and perfect answer or answers about God...In fact, our faith in our seeking God may give us as many questions as it gives us answers...We will not even get complete answers about God, even after we have read the Bible several times...
God wants our questions...In fact, it seems He welcomes questions...God chooses not to give us the complete information we need about Him, because He wants us to have faith in Him, instead of complete knowledge about Him, and His existence...God could give everyone in the entire world a miracle, which would give us the knowledge that would immediately prove to everyone, for once and for all, that He exists...For instance, He could put a message in the skies around the world at the same time so everyone could see His message that the scientists could see and prove that would have them saying, yes, that sign in the sky can only be from God...The message could be put in a lab and proven, because God has allowed His message to be proven, and retested in a lab...But, it seems, He chooses not to do this type of miracle, or any group miracles...It seems God likes to do things more subtlety...For instance, He answers a prayer for an individual or a healing or health issue...He might answer a prayer to an individual, who is praying for a new job...It seems God and His Son work on the individual and less in groups...
Pascal said that God gives us just enough light for the believer to believe, and just enough light for the non-believer not to see Him or not to believe...This too is a an individual miracle for both the believer and non-believer, in being able to know the amount of light for each of us, and because He has the power to do this...The amount of this light and the amount of information and knowledge we get from this light, is not perfect...It is the faith we receive from our individual amount of light to get us to God...To get from this imperfect amount of light and knowledge to God requires a step or leap of faith to Him...Faith gets us from the light to believe in Him...This is the question and God wants us to seek the answers to...
Do we have perfect knowledge, when we make a choice on choosing a spouse?...Do we have perfect faith when we choose a house to live in?...These are poor examples, but these are big decisions in our lives, and show us that we do not have perfect knowledge in many of the decisions we make...It takes or took some faith to choose a spouse for life or choose a house to live in for years and years...
The point is knowledge, truth, and faith are related but different things...There are things in our lives that require some faith...But we know that there is a heaven and earth...It takes faith to believe that God created them...
