Deuteronomy 4:29
Seeking the Truth of God
29 But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Psalm 145:18
Call on God in Truth
18 The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
John 1:1-18
Jesus is the Word
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe.8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
John 8:31-32
The Truth Shall Set You Free
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 14:6-7
Jesus is Truth
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus is the Same -Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
John 17:13-19
God's Word is Truth
13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
John 18:36-38
Jesus Came to Earth to Testify to the Truth
36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
38 “What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him.
It is not an easy thing to do to follow the Truth...And there is a difference in pursuing the Truth and in testifying to the Truth...There was One who did come long ago to testify to the Truth...And there are many others seeking and in pursuit of the Truth -as they live their lives...I think today (and I hope I am wrong about this) that there may be many who do not seek the Truth, Biblical Truth, or truth of many different matters...The biblical view of truth is one of a difficult nature to modern minds...They see Biblical Truth more as a matter of opinion than seeing it as the Absolute Truth...The Truth is maybe more against what they might want to believe in...Biblical Truth is one that divides, and seems to cause some to think that it is intolerant...But that is not right...So some of our belief systems become more based on opinion than on the Absolute Truth in the universe...And as culture changes and becomes more opinionated and there is less belief in the Absolute Truth, then tolerance and opinions can win out over Absolute Truth in the culture...After all we do not want to harm the majority...If the majority of people fifty years ago believed in one thing as the Truth, and now public opinion and their own opinion is more tolerable of a situation now, then they now might view their more tolerant opinion as their absolute truth...But Truth does not work that way, because Truth is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow...Truth is Timeless...Truth has to be that way or it cannot be Truth...Truth does not hold to a majority of opinions, because Truth is Truth and not opinions or majority...So Truth does not have to be a popular thing...And Truth by its very nature is exclusive, and the One who is Truth taught us this, and specifically His Own Exclusivity -and He said He is the Way to God, the Only Way to Him...
But when we think about it, isn't Truth and LOVE things we should follow?...
Jesus told Pilate that the reason He was born and came into the world was to testify to the Truth...Everyone who wants to know the Truth listens to Him and His teachings and what He has to say in the gospels...God’s Word is Truth...And this is what Jesus came to teach us -God's Word...And Jesus told us He is Truth...So He is God's Word to the Truth...When we learn about the Truth, Jesus said we might make enemies...How could He not make enemies with what He taught...He knew everyone would not agree with Him, because He came to the world and teach and preach the Truth...So everyone does not want to hear the Truth...But doing what is right, teaching the Truth, and helping others for some odd reason did not make everyone like Him or believe in Him...And as you read the gospels, you see clearly that He is not One of intolerance...He is not One of opinion either, but One of Truth and authority...And even Jesus' judge, as he tried to discover the Truth, could find no basis for a charge against Him...
For the believer, we are taught that in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...And Jesus was with God in the beginning...Through Jesus all things are made; without Him nothing was made that has been made...In Jesus is life, and that life is the Light of all mankind...Jesus is the Word, God's Word...Jesus is Truth, and God's Word is Truth...And He testified and taught God's Word...These are important Biblical Truths...Believe in these Truths and the Truth will set you free...Jesus is God's Word and Jesus is Truth -because God's Word is Truth...
I think those that lessen the Absolute Truth, lessen our LORD and Savior...When we turn to opinions and tolerance for Truth, what do we have?...We could morally do anything if there is no Absolute Truth...Tolerance would be considered good and the standard for truth, and intolerance would or could be seen as evil among the majority...So there would be this changing landscape of right and wrong and of Truth...Tolerance is not the standard for Truth...Jesus is...So we know that only Absolute Truth can kill evil, deception, and sin...The Truth can be trusted...And in God we trust, as we call on Him in Truth...
