Hebrews 2:1-4
Warning to Pay Attention
1 We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. 2 For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, 3 how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. 4 God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
We must pay full attention to God's message...If we don't we may drift away from Him...Drifting away from God is bad...We need to seek God, pray without ceasing, and constantly be focused on Him...
Our minds fill up with current events and current information... We also tend to forget things that our fathers and forefathers have taught us and the experiences they had...Things that happened long ago seem (in general) have less significance than current things that are happening around us...The scriptures are old, but they are the most important facts that influence of our faith...They give us hope...
Current events and current facts and information are not more important than past events, past facts, and past information... The wonders and miracles of God are there...Long ago God opened the Red Sea in order to help His people escape...God provided water, manna and quail as the people of Israel wandered in the desert...
Our minds tend to wander...People tend to wander...Wandering is not necessarily bad...The wandering people with no nation left Egypt as slaves...They come to the promised land forty years later...Out in the desert wandering, they became a nation of Israel, with a set of Laws from God through Moses...
Through the Holy Spirit the power of God is carried out in His purposes and His will...The Holy Spirit guides the people of God, so that we can become the kind of people God wants us to be...
