Leviticus 17:11
Sacrifice for sins
11 For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life.
Hebrews 10:12-18
The Ultimate Sacrifice for sins
12 But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God. 13 Since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool, 14 because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
15 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:
16 "This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds." 17 Then he adds:
"Their sins and lawless acts
I will remember no more." 18 And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin.
In Leviticus, Moses teaches man how to atone for his sin with different types of sacrifices...Moses tells us in Leviticus that blood in us is what makes us alive...It is also blood through different sacrifices that atones for the sins we do...
In Hebrews, we are taught that Jesus sacrificed Himself for us and now we no longer need to sacrifice...For one sacrifice has been made perfect forever...And in verse 18 there is no longer any sacrifice for sin...We must look to Jesus for our atonement of sin...He has saved us...
When Jesus took over our sins on the cross, some experts say that when Jesus said My God, my God why have you forsaken me in Mark 15:34 God and God's presence, who is perfect from sin moves away momentarily...Jesus now is our Savior and has taken on the sins of the world...God then moves back with Jesus and it is the end of sacrifices...Jesus makes the Ultimate Sacrifice...
The followers and disciples would see Jesus heal many people, they would see Him turn water into wine, they would see Him walk on water, they would see Him calm the storm and the seas...Still they had doubts...It took this Ultimate Sacrifice for humanity to believe He is the Messiah...As St. Paul states in 1 Corinthians 15:14, If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith...
This is why the Gospels exist and today survive...Jesus was raised and seen over a period of forty days...So many people seen Him AFTER HIS DEATH, that the naysayers could not put this truth away...The Ultimate Sacrifice over two thousand years ago is still a fact today...Jesus lives today...
