1 John 3:1-4
We Shall be Like Him
1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
Mark 8:27-30
Who Do You Say I AM
27 Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”
28 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.”
29 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.”
30 Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus the Same, Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
I have read the gospels many time, yet I have my own personal picture of our LORD in my mind..I have custom made Him, to fit my thinking...When I read and think about Jesus, how we each envision Him is just that -it is how each of us envision and see Him...To me, He is a tall brown headed bearded attractive younger man in a white flowing robe...And I know that this is my vision of Him and not everyone sees this...He is very similar to a picture I saw many years ago, when I was young...And that is how I picture Him, rightly or wrongly...I believe, if each of us could draw pictures of Him, we might see and have His appearance a little or a lot different from one another's sketch of Him...
But I know this is only how I view Him appearance wise...But Jesus never ask what do you think I look like...The more important question is -and He does ask us this, who do I say He is...What are and were His real attributes?...And what is and was His real personality (and is His personality) in the gospels?...St. John who wrote the Gospel According to John, two epistles, and the Book of Revelations writes -that what we will be has not yet been made known to us...But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him and know Him as He really is...All who have this hope in Him purify themselves, just as He is pure...We will be called children of God, and be His children...Being children of God, we can see that God is LOVE, and He will actively LOVE us as His children...There is great privilege being called a child of God, and being a child of God...Because His Son is Himself, THE Child of God...So when we see Jesus come again (in His second coming), He will transform us into His children and we will be like Him...Our sins will be gone...We will be Pure like He is Pure...
So how we picture His appearance is today is one thing, and who we believe He is and when we get to see Him again - is quite another...Jesus will be like the Jesus in the Bible...For He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever...
