Hebrews 10:1-18
1 The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.2 Otherwise, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. 3 But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins. 4 It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said:
“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
but a body you prepared for me;
6 with burnt offerings and sin offerings
you were not pleased.
7 Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll—
I have come to do your will, my God.’”
8 First he said, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them”—though they were offered in accordance with the law. 9 Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will. ”He sets aside the first to establish the second. 10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. 14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
15 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:
16 “This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.”
17 Then he adds:
“Their sins and lawless acts
I will remember no more.”
18 And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.
1 John 2:1-2
Jesus Atones for the Sins of the World
1 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
1 Peter 2:22-24
Jesus Died So that We Might Live
22 He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
John 14:6
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life
6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Life is in our blood...For those believing in the Bible and in God blood means life...Blood is the substance of life...And in many of the biblical sacrifices of Scripture, blood was a sign and a symbol that took away our sins...So by taking the blood of a lamb, a cow, a goat the followers of God, we were following the Law of Moses...And people would sacrifice an animal and get their sins atoned for...By the sacrifice of a bleeding animal, one's sins could be washed away...But as the author of Hebrews writes that the law of Moses is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves...For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship...Otherwise, would they not have stopped being offered?...For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins...But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins...It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins...
God for many, many years told us through His prophets that animal sacrifices without a sincerity to what one had done in their sin were empty sacrifices...It is impossible for the blood of bulls, and goats and lambs to take away our sins...We need something or Someone Perfect for that...The animal sacrifices of their blood were only a symbol to the people...That blood is life, and our sins are wrong and need atoned for...This symbol of blood, would change for animal to Something Else...We could not come to see that the blood of the animal was not enough...Another symbol and example had to happen to show us the Way...So that is what God did...He sent His Son...One who committed no sin, nor any deceit ever was found in His mouth...One, who then has Perfect Blood and was sacrificed, once and for all -so sacrifices would end...One Man would die the for sins of the world...Jesus laid down His life for all mankind...
Jesus was the final sin offering...
The Lamb of Christ is the symbol needed for life and truth...The symbol of the cross of the Perfect One bleeding and dying shows the way of the cross is a Way a life to follow...It is the last sacrifice needed to save the world...He died so that we might live...
