I sense… a fair complexion, shoulder-length auburn hair… weathered hands… good of heart… it is you! The town washerwoman - today, you will meet your end! So say I, so shall it be.
ABILITY:
Each day, you may make a public statement about today’s executee. At night, you learn if it was true.
STORYTELLER NOTES:
As with the Gossip, players can’t prophecise about things that are yet to happen: the prophecy is true or false at the time that it is made, and can only be confirmed via the game state at that moment.
The Prophet sees into the future to learn about the player about to be executed that day.
Playing as the Prophet
You have the ability to confirm players in whatever way you wish, so make the most of your prophecies. You may want to keep it quite general, ie. “Player X is good”, or perhaps be more specific, ie. “Player Y is either the Gatekeeper or the Dreamer”. Whatever you choose to go with, receiving confirmation from the Storyteller will help your team solve the game, and sometimes, learning that your prophecy is false can lead to other conclusions – so don’t fret if you don’t get the answer you’re after.
Example
Freddie is the Prophet. He publicly claims that today's executee is an Outsider. He learns at night that it was true.
Bluffing as the Prophet
Given that you know who the evil players are around the Grimoire, you’ll be much better equipped to make plausible-sounding prophecies. Although you can’t receive confirmation around what you say, you can bluff it to either clear recently executed teammates, or to implicate others. Take care that the misinformation you spread isn’t disproven elsewhere.
Example
Angel is the Spy bluffing as the Prophet. She publicly claims that today's executee - next to the Monk and the Plague Doctor - neighbours an evil player, and states that the next day that it was true.
