Up is down! Left is right! Day is night! I am not me! I am you! Or are you me? Wait, I'm me? Round and round we go... Oh ho!
ABILITY:
If you are nominated by evil and executed, your team loses. Anyone 'mad' that you are in play might die. You cannot self-nominate. [Your token is a square]
STORYTELLER NOTES:
In order to run this character online, you must include the Gardener Loric. On Night 1, before passing out tokens, wake each player clockwise and let them know the Eccentric's token is, or is not in the bag, and ask whether they wish to take the token if so.
The Eccentric's unique token means its presence is known to many, but mentioned by none.
Playing as the Eccentric
Congratulations on being brave (or silly) enough to take the Eccentric's token! Its unique shape in the bag means that anyone who drew a character before you knows you're in play, and anyone after you doesn't. Of course, no-one will be able to say so, because to do so risks an early exit, so play it cool, give nothing away until you're dead, and let town tie itself in knots to work out whether you're real or not.
Speaking of death, aside from dying at night, you'll need to contend with nominations; the Eccentric must be nominated and executed by a good player, else they risk losing the game for their team, so if you've been framed, make sure the people pushing on you are backed up with information confirming them as good. If not, it's time to fight like hell to clear your name, because you're only a few votes away from an early loss.
On the upside, if you die by execution and the game continues, you can be reasonably certain your nominator is good, so speak with them and let them know!
Example
Zoe is the fourth player to take tokens this game, and decides to take the Eccentric's token. Three people know the Eccentric is in play other than Zoe, so Zoe double claims one of them to infer, without alluding to her real role, that she may be the Eccentric.
Bluffing as the Eccentric
While not impossible, the Eccentric's square token gives away its presence readily. But don't fret: if you're the first to take a token, don't feel the Eccentric in the bag, and draw an evil token, you've got a guaranteed bluff ready to go. Just be sure that the Outsider count checks out, and that you're prepared for what comes when someone invokes your name and doesn't die. It's a "might", after all.
Play it as you would if good, be prepared to be framed, and if it's time to go, insist that a teammate be the one to nominate you to help sell them as good. Insist that you live on days you're nominated by players you wish to frame, but don't let them know why! If you've got a Witch or Harpy handy, it may be worth coordinating your actions to "confirm" your role.
Example
Yang is the first player to take tokens this game, and does not feel the Eccentric's token in the bag. They grab a token, receiving the Witch. They curse the town's Savant, and heavily imply they are the Eccentric. The Savant believes Yang is the Eccentric and mistakenly mentions it: they nominate Yang, and die.
Jinxes
Spy: If the Spy and the Eccentric is in play, the Eccentric is drunk.
Widow: If the Widow and the Eccentric is in play, the Eccentric is drunk.
Lycanthrope: The Faux Paw nominating the Eccentric does not trigger the Eccentric's ability.
