I give my mortal soul for a fire that outlasts empires.
ABILITY:
If you are executed, a dead Minion regains their ability for the rest of the game. If no Minions are dead when this happens, your team loses.
STORYTELLER NOTES:
If a Minion cannot "regain" an ability (such as the Baron), the Acolyte's ability does not trigger.
The Acolyte gives its powers to a dead Minion, and causes catastrophe if it is sacrificed for nothing.
Playing as the Acolyte
Survive... sort of. You can only damage town if executed, so bluffing strong roles and drawing the Demons attention is the best option, but this in turn may frame you as evil should your information not quite line up, so treading that line carefully is recommended.
As for the best time for you to die? Preferably never, but a solid second place is when you believe a low-impact Minion such as the Baron or Spy is dead. In these cases, the Acolyte's ability is effectively void, and you can be executed with peace of mind, knowing you won't cause any lasting damage.
Additionally, you function as a high-risk, low-reward Oracle: if your ability doesn't cause the game to end upon execution, you can be almost certain a dead player is a Minion, which is fantastic news for you and your team.
Example
Gemma is the Acolyte. On Day 3, they are executed, and the current dead players are the Fang Gu, Grandmother and Fortune Teller. The game ends, and the evil team wins. Oops.
Bluffing as the Acolyte
Like the Saint, you really, really don't want to be executed - especially early in the game, where the chances of there being a dead Minion are slim to none. Use this to your advantage to buy you some time! "Just one more day" characters like the Assassin, Counterfeiter or Fang Gu benefit greatly from this bluff as town will be reluctant to execute them if they believe their death will lead to a loss, but the other half of its ability means the Acolyte will still want to live on, lest a Minion regain an ability. Consider bluffing a Minion ability being removed from play, only to surreptitiously "return" upon your untimely death.
Example
Gideon is the Assassin bluffing as the Acolyte. They ask for just one more day before being executed, as they are not yet confident that a Minion has died. That night, they kill the Soldier.
Jinxes
Scarlet Woman: If the Acolyte would cause the Scarlet Woman's ability to be renewed, a living Minion instead gains the Scarlet Woman's ability, and learns this.
