'Ey, 'ey you there... you're the wazscherwoman, yeah? The Zzaint? Oh, schorry about that. Get a lil'... a lil'... *hic* - 'ey, 'ey you - the unnertaker, aye-- oh, bugger it: barkeep! Wassail for all! (Creator credit: Twindels)
ABILITY:
On your first day, you must publicly guess 5 players' characters (not including yourself or Travellers). If the majority are incorrect, one player is drunk from now on, even if you are dead.
STORYTELLER NOTES:
Use the Barfly's drunkening the same way you might a Sweetheart's. Remember that characters like the Recluse and Spy might misregister.
The Barfly socialises immediately to learn who's who, with dire consequences if they don't get it quite right.
Playing as the Barfly
Get out there on Day 1 and be social! Keeping your allies sober and healthy depends on you correctly guessing their roles, so finding out as much as possible to piece together your own personal puzzle is essential. Consider asking others to guess along with you to hide your identity, as outing as the Barfly early may make you ripe for a Fang Gu, Godfather, or other roles that capitalise on Outsiders being in play. If you feel like you've done your job adeptly, you can relax slightly, but watch out for bad information or misfiring abilities, as this may be a hint that your ability has impacted the game, and if players are holding on to their claims, there may be evil among them.
Example
Will is the Barfly. On Day 1, he guesses 5 players' roles, getting 2 correct. The Artist, as a result, is immediately drunk.
Bluffing as the Barfly
The Barfly's ability naturally lends itself to learning about people: unlike the Juggler, who can parse their information in the event of an incorrect guess, the Barfly must get the majority of its guesses correct, lest town suffer. You can use this ability to cover Minions like the Poisoner, or even outright bluff that one player is drunk even if no such thing is possible, simply to discredit town's information. The Barfly does tend to get executed to cover a world where extra Outsiders may be evil in hiding, so consider adopting this bluff if you are a more "expendable" Minion.
Example
Hugo is the Godfather bluffing as the Barfly. On Day 1, he guesses members of his evil team among his 5 players, and the Mathematician learns a 0 overnight.
