ABILITY:
Once per game, at night*, choose a dead player (not a Demon). You gain their ability.
STORYTELLER NOTES:
If the Necromancer's chosen player is revived by some means, the Necromancer loses their ability.

Playing as the Necromancer
While the obvious choice for a Necromancer is to gain the ability of a dead Minion, this isn't necessarily your only option. Perhaps you can steal the Savant's ability and gain statements about the game during the day? Or perhaps you'd rather become the Dreamer, learning about player's roles? The Necromancer is a versatile Minion that can be used for information gathering, or to keep Minion abilities in play, so the choice is up to you.

Zak is the Necromancer. He selects the Witch who died to their own ability, and gains that power from that point on.
Fighting the Necromancer
You've confirmed that town has killed the Fearmonger, but the next night, the Fearmonger has chosen a new player? It must be the Necromancer!
Confirming that Minions have died is a surefire way to determine that a Necromancer is about. If you can determine that, then you know which Minions are in play, and you know there's far less to fear than before.
Be equally wary of players who claim the roles of dead players: while those dead players may have been bluffing their role, it's equally possible that a Necromancer has stolen their ability to gain credibility. Discerning the difference is the best way to figure out whether a Necromancer is on the loose or not.
Example
Susan is the Nightwatchman. There is no double claim of their role, but upon their death on Day 3, another player claims to have received a Nightwatchman's call. Susan can infer that a Necromancer has assumed her ability.
