Opposites, when combined, can create something greater than themselves alone.
ABILITY:
Each night*, choose two players: at least one, or both, die. Yin learns who you are.
STORYTELLER NOTES:
Assess the game state before committing to two kills: this will almost certainly out that the Yin-Yang is in play - so if players have heavy suspicion about a particular player, it may be best to stick to single kills until it is most advantageous (ie. if town believes there is a Godfather who may kill after an Outsider death, if town believes there is an unspent Assassin, etc).
Keep in mind that in a Yin/Yang game, the only Demon available at setup is the Yin: the Yin-Yang is a conditional Demon that only appears if the conditions for its creation (outlined in the Yin’s ability) are met.
The Yin-Yang, as a combined force of its two halves, is more powerful than ever.
Playing as the Yin-Yang
You are a supercharged demon with the ability to kill twice per night with no downsides: use it! Given that the Yin-Yang typically appears later in the game, you have the ability to accelerate the endgame and draw things to a close quickly. As such, lay low, maintain your bluffs, and keep killing at night. If you wish to ensure that town doesn’t know that a Yin-Yang is now in play, you can kill dead players to ensure only one death occurs in the night. Use this false sense of security to turn up the heat later on.
Crucially, the Yin-Yang being in the game means that you definitely know who your other half is: use this to your advantage, support each other (or not, if there is heavy suspicion about!), and coordinate your information to ensure the best possible outcome.
Example
Gory is the former good Yang, and newly created evil Yin-Yang. Harold, the former Yin, learns who they are. Gory selects two players at night: both die.
Fighting the Yin-Yang
Given the Yin-Yang’s ability to kill twice per night, be prepared for a short endgame. While storytellers will use discretion with regards to who dies at night, you can typically expect multiple kills. Rule out any sources of extra deaths such as the Assassin or Godfather, and re-evaluate your information to figure out who the most suspicious players are. If you’ve confirmed a Yin-Yang is in play, you’ve killed the Yin, and so you know that not only are you close to winning the game, but that there is a guaranteed dead evil player that has less impact on the game moving forward.
Example
Winston is the Undertaker who knows that the Assassin is dead. On Night 4, there are two deaths. They know this can only be the Yin-Yang, and suspect that the player executed on Day 3 may have been the Yin.
Jinxes
Hatter: The Yin-Yang cannot be swapped to as part of the Hatter's ability.
