Water may quell a fire, but in the end, the storm comes, and what is a storm if not water’s surrender to the fire?
ABILITY:
Each night*, choose a player: they die. If you choose Yang, they become evil, then swap characters with you. If 5 or more players remain and you die, a living Yang becomes an evil Yin-Yang. [-1 Minion, +Yang]
STORYTELLER NOTES:
This is a fairly straightforward Demon, but just remember that if the Yin picks the Yang that you must turn the Yang evil before swapping them with the Yin, to ensure you’ve properly “recruited” the Yang.
The Yang and Yin-Yang must be on the same script as the Yin in order for them to function.
The Yin hunts for its other half, and transforms into something more powerful upon its death.
Playing as the Yin
Find your other half! With one less Minion to ally yourself with, you are at an immediate disadvantage, however the knowledge that the Yang is out there should give you some reassurance. Finding them allows you to not only recruit them into your ranks, but to be agile, avoiding suspicion through Exorcist abilities, Flowergirl information and the like; and causing confusion as town can’t seem to pin down where demon candidates reside. While finding a Yang does mean that no deaths occur in the night, you can coordinate your actions with a Godfather or Assassin to ensure the extra death at night looks like a normal demon kill, ensuring that town won’t suspect that a Yin/Yang swap has taken place.
Additionally, choosing the Yang at night enables you to swap characters, giving you the versatility of playing as another role, and having control over two aspects of the game.
If there is heavy suspicion on you, feel free to sacrifice yourself to protect your Yang: they will become the Yin-Yang and will carry on the game for you.
Example
Eric is the Yin who selects the Politician on Night 2, who dies. He then selects the Yang on Night 3, who becomes the evil Yin; Eric becomes the evil Yang. No-one dies at night.
Fighting the Yin
Pinning down the Yin’s safety net in the Yang is key to defeating this demon: if you can play patiently and gather information, you can execute the Yang once 4 or fewer players are left alive, ensuring that they cannot jump to the Yang. Look for players who are initially fine to be executed, but become increasingly cautious as time wears on, especially if a Yang is suspected to be found. They may be the recipient of a demon change during the night, and the Yin will not want to let that happen.
Example
William is the Seer who received their neighbour, claiming Noble, on Night 1. On Day 4, the Noble is reluctant to die: William discerns they may have been turned evil by the Yin's ability.
