ABILITY:

If you are executed, the Demon sees the Grimoire tonight.

STORYTELLER NOTES:

Remember to show the Grimoire to the Demon at the appropriate point in the night order so that information is provided per what the Demon would see when the Record Keeper is up in the night order.

The Record Keeper carries the Grimoire wherever they go, and doesn't want it to fall into the wrong hands.

Playing as the Record Keeper

Stay alive! Although you start with knowledge about the game, be careful about who you share that information with, or simply use it to sniff out trusted allies: your death can have disastrous consequences for the good team. Consider bluffing a powerful role in order to ensure the Demon kills you at night – especially if it’s one you learn. But take care not to accidentally find yourself on the wrong end of a double claim, as this might lead to your execution.

Example

Rhona is the Record Keeper. Rhona is executed on Day 4, and the Demon sees the Grimoire that night.

Bluffing as the Record Keeper

No Record Keeper ever wants their wares to fall into the wrong hands via execution, so act like it. Putting you on the block is a terrible idea! Like the Saint, you can push for a world where you must stay alive, and ask that town leaves it to the Demon to dispatch you. As such, you can avoid execution day after day and find yourself alive and healthy when it counts. Consider coordinating with fellow Minions like the Godfather, or lean into confirming other bluffs in order to fill out your known roles. You may even out which Demon is in play to lend yourself further credibility.

Minh is the Vortox bluffing as the Record Keeper. Minh is never executed. Great job, Minh.

Jinxes

Damsel: If a Damsel is in play, one of the Damsel or Record Keeper is poisoned.

Poppy Grower: If the Poppy Grower is in play and the Record Keeper dies, the Demon does not see the Grimoire until the Poppy Grower dies.
