You have outlived your usefulness. Make room for another.
ABILITY:
The first time a Minion dies by execution (not yourself), they become good, but are not told. Choose a player: if good, they turn evil, and learn this. You might register as a different Minion, even if dead.
STORYTELLER NOTES:
Be sure to include the Efreet on scripts that can't create extra evils. The Efreet creates a good character, but the player turned doesn't know this - extra evils can turn the voting majority substantially.
Given this shift in evil player count - both real and imagined - be judicious in what you pair the Efreet with.
This Minion requires a fairly familiar group of players, because like a Snake Charmer, the game can turn in an instant, and players may not like feeling as though they've had a portion of their agency ripped from them.
The Efreet keeps a good Minion fighting for evil, turning a good player to the dark side in the process.
Playing as the Efreet
As the Efreet, you are in an odd position whereby you cannot claim your role to your fellow Minions at first. Feel free to bluff as another Minion, or simply dance around the topic when asked. If you state that you are the Efreet to your team, the first Minion that dies by execution has the opportunity to out your team, so caution is paramount. Instead, continue to sell your bluffed Minion role to your ex-teammate, and know that you have the security of one new evil player, as well as a formerly evil Minion who will continue to act in the interests of your Demon.
Once your ability is spent, you can freely out this information to your other Minions and your Demon, so that they are also aware of a) who their new teammate is, and b) who they can safely dispatch should the need arise.
Another angle to take is, like a Demon pretending to be Snake Charmed, out an evil team that doesn’t exist under the pretence that you were a Minion who was turned good via execution. It’s a risky play, but under the right circumstances, might swing the game in your favour!
Example
Laura is the Efreet, claiming to be the Poisoner. The Harpy is executed on Day 3, and turns good that night. The Innkeeper turns evil the same night.
Fighting the Efreet
Pay attention to players who suddenly shift their allegiances. Like a Mezepheles turned player, Efreet turned players may learn things about the evil team that ultimately lead them to defend players they hadn’t previously, or act in ways that are contrary to their previous behaviours. If you ever have a way of confirming that an Efreet is in play, consider bending the ear of a recently executed Minion to persuade them to fill you in on who the evil players are.
You may also want to look for sudden inconsistencies in information that may point towards an evil turned player: if, for instance, an Empath suddenly changes their numbers, or if a Savant gives provably false statements, there’s a chance they’ve been turned: use that opportunity to work towards a world in which an Efreet has had a hand in proceedings.
Example
Nathaniel is the Blackmailer, who was executed on Day 2. On Day 4, the sober Village Idiot checks them and sees them as good. Nathaniel realises that there has not been any suggestion of Cerenovus madness, despite hearing that one is in play, and realises they have been turned by the Efreet. They out their evil team. Hooray!
