The Baltimore Waltz is an absurdist play by Paula Vogel, written in memory of her brother who died of AIDS, about a schoolteacher named Anna who, after being diagnosed with a fictional fatal disease, travels to Europe with her brother Carl in a fantastical, humorous, and poignant journey that blends fantasy with the reality of grief and the AIDS epidemic. The play, which won an Obie Award, is known for its inventive structure, blending film noir, classic movies, and personal memory, and explores themes of love, loss, and the search for a cure.
