For those of you interested in Henry David Thoreau, transcendentalism, and/or conservation, we have scheduled a tour of Walden Woods in Lincoln on Thursday, June 12 at 11 am. The Library has the most comprehensive collection of Thoreau-related material in the world, as well as extensive collections on his contemporaries and on Transcendentalism. The grounds include several important environmental sites.
Our tour will include the Thoreau library and a Tudor revival hunting lodge dating from the early 1900's, built by Henry Lee Higginson, founder and conductor of the BSO. The lodge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Lunch follows at a nearby restaurant.
There is no fee for this tour but you must register by contacting Syrl Silberman syrl@sagecoach-cac.com. This trip is limited to 15 people.
