Join us for a free guided tour of the Commonwealth Museum, located on Columbia Point campus near the JFK Presidential Library and Museum and Edward M. Kennedy Institute.
The exhibits trace the rights of American people from the 1600's until today. You will learn about the treatment of native peoples, the practices of early English settlers, the establishment of the first public schools in the nation, the first university (Harvard), the Salem witch trials and many more landmarks in the state's and nation's history.
We will meet at 11 at the Museum for the hour-long tour and have lunch together nearby at the University of Massachusetts student union. Contact Marsha Semuels mhsemuels@gmail.com to sign up and for more information.
There is plenty of free parking on site. Follow the directional signage on the UMass Boston campus. The museum is easily reachable by public transportation by taking the Red Line to JFK/UMass station and then boarding Bus #1, a free UMass Boston shuttle bus, to the Kennedy/Archives stop.
What better time to learn about the Massachusetts experiment in democracy and the intrusions on our democracy over time.
