Join us as we visit the office, house and grounds of Frederick Law Olmstead, the father of landscape architecture. This will be a free private tour, guided by a park ranger.
The property is located at 99 Warren Street in Brookline.
Well-known as a landscape architect, Olmstead was also a journalist and social critic. He designed New York's Central Park, Boston's Emerald Necklace, Brooklyn's Prospect Park and many other public spaces in the country, including the grounds of the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. An early leader of the conservation movement in the US, Olmstead believe that green space should be accessible to all elements of the population.
Parking is available along Dudley Street and in Dudley Street Parking lot. Those with handicap permits may park at the Warren Street entrance.
The group will have lunch following the tour at a nearby restaurant. Please contact Susan Theran at Susan@SusanTheran.com to reserve your space.
