A museum in our own backyard! Not the Rose, but the one-of-a-kind Museum of Industry and Innovation at 154 Moody Street in Waltham, On this tour, you will discover the history and architecture of the world's first modern factory, the 1813 Boston Manufacturing Company, and the transformative advancements in manufacturing that revolutionized production of goods and shaped the modern age. You will also learn about the first industrial mill in the United States and the role of women in industrial America. Our tour includes the Bale to Bolt walking tour of the former factory building and grounds.
Reserve your spot for a guided tour by September 12 by contacting Judy Bernstein judylbernstein@gmail.com. The cost is $5, payable at the museum. Lunch is at the famed In a Pickle, a short walk from the museum.
While there is no parking at the museum, plenty of parking is available on the street and at the Embassy Parking Facility at 42 Cooper Street and the Carter Street Lot adjacent to Waltham Common.
