Friday, May 16 11am-2:30 pm
We are going on a field trip to visit the National Yiddish Book Center in Amherst, where we will have a private 45 minute tour of this national treasure. When the tour concludes, you will be free to spend more time at the Book Center, visit the nearby Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art or venture into Amherst center. The group wil have lunch together before heading back to Boston.
The cost for Book Center admission and the private tour is $12. We will be organizing car pools from the Turner Street parking lot or another convenient location. We plan to leave at 9 am Friday to arrive for our 11am tour of the Book Center and depart Amherst around 2:30 for the drive back to the Boston area.
The Yiddish Book Center's permanent collection Yiddish: A Global Culture celebrates the story of modern Yiddish culture through books, objects, photographs, family heirlooms, music and videos. For a preview, take a peek at their website.
The Eric Carle Museum picture-book exhibitions showcase a variety of artists, themes, and styles. The components of Carle's famous collages are on display. Click here to learn more.
