Walking Tour

We all know the North End as a great place for restaurants but do you know its history as a home for Jewish, Italian and other immigrants? On Friday, October 18, BOLLI members are invited to explore Boston’s oldest neighborhood, dating from the early 17th century. Our 90-minute tour will be guided by a member of Boston By Foot, who is intimately familiar with the history of the area. The group will meet at 11 am and have lunch together following the tour. The cost is $20 per person and must be paid in full no later than October 4. As with other trips, no refunds are possible. Please register by clicking here.
On this tour, you will discover the charm of this unique, compact city space that has been home to immigrants for 400 years.
Learn what brought waves of people from Ireland, Eastern Europe, and Italy to the North End; the difficulties they faced when they arrived; and how they made a difference in their new home.
This tour begins at Christopher Columbus Park on the waterfront and weaves through Boston’s famous ‘crooked and narrow’ streets. It will end at the intersection of Salem Street and Baldwin Place.
