John Coltrane…need we say more? The creator of Blue Train, Giant Steps and A Love Supreme might just be the single greatest creative genius in modern jazz: a figure whose musical legacy is revered by many, and acknowledged by all.
Now, his spirit rides again. Coltrane: Legacy for Orchestra is a new live concert experience re-framing some of his greatest works with original orchestrations by genre-defying American composer Carlos Simon. Endorsed by the Coltrane Estate and accompanied by exclusive and recently-exhibited personal photographs of John Coltrane, this concert features Terence Blanchard on the trumpet and Edwin Outwater as conductor.
Together, they’ll take you on a musical journey through Coltrane’s work, from the 1950s through to the late sixties.
We have secured a limited number of tickets for the Saturday, March 22 concert at 8 pm. Our seats are in the first balcony at a cost of $56.70 per ticket. Prior to the performance, you are invited to join the group for dinner at The Westland. To purchase a ticket, contact Jennifer Coplon at jencoplon@gmail.com. Deadline is February 14.
This concert is performed without intermission.
