Boston Atheneum Developing Boston

Photography Exhibit

December 4, 2023 at 11 am

The Arts & Cultural Excursions SIG, in partnership with the BOLLI Photography Group, has arranged a one-hour private guided tour of the Athenaeum’s temporary exhibit entitled Developing Boston: Berenice Abbott and Irene Schwachman Photograph a Changing City.  The curator will introduce us to the exhibition's themes and highlights.

The photographic survey, which began in 1934 by Abbott and continued 25 years later by Shwachman, captures Boston at different times in its history.  Our group will also view photos by teen artists from Artists for Humanity, which highlight Boston’s continued redevelopment in the 21st century.

Admission to the Atheneum and the tour (limited to 20 people) is free for BOLLI members. Lunch will follow at a nearby restaurant.  Please RSVP to Jennifer Coplon at jencoplon@gmail.comThis tour is now wait list only.
