Take a water taxi from the Institute of Contemporary Art to its summer exhibit space in an East Boston warehouse, called the ICA Watershed. There you will be amazed to see nearly 140 life-sized figures in The Procession, a creation by sculptor and artist Hew Locke. This exhibit was commissioned by the Tate Britain in London. The 140 figures are constructed from cardboard, wood, and recyclable plastic, clothed in textiles and represent, colonialism, globalism, conflict, ecology and cultural exchange. According to Locke, “there is an energy there, which is about hope... even coming from difficult times.”
Arrive at the dock next to the ICA by 10:45 for the water shuttle at either 11 AM and 11:15 AM. The guided tour will begin at 11:30; the charge is still being determined but will not exceed $15. The only access to the Watershed is by boat. Lunch will follow nearby at in the Seaport's Boqueria.
