Leviathan

The giant flying beast

The Leviathan flying fortress is for heavy fire support of the resistance troops from the air. Armed with 3 sets of autocannons and anti air, the leviathan has a very diverse arsenal which helps it to terrorize the enemy from the sky.

Active ability: Devastation

Launches a tactical nuclear missile at the designated point, dealing massive damage over a wide area

Very good at dealing with clusters of enemies, and can severely weaken an army that can then be finished off with other units

Passive ability: Heat flares

Releases thermal traps which bait the enemy's incoming homing missiles

This reduces the damage dealt by homing missiles for a short period of time, greatly increasing the survivability of the Leviathan

Strengths

  • Large health pool with lots of armor

  • Large damage potential from 4 weapons

  • Has anti air

  • Active ability is very good for crowd control and can destroy/critically damage a large group of units

  • Can avoid 1 salvo of anti air due to its passive ability, which helps its survivability

Weaknesses

  • Very slow, and may slow down the rate of attacking the enemy

  • Low speed makes it vulnerable to enemy aviation

  • It is a huge target, thus easy to strike down with fighters

  • To use 3 autocannons it is necessary to be directly within the enemy lines of fire, resulting in the Leviathan taking heavy fire

  • Active ability is risky to use in the presence of anti air systems, as there is large risk of losing the Leviathan due to mass anti air while trying to use the active ability

  • Slow targeting time for the active ability gives even Zeus a chance to retreat

  • The active ability effect is significantly reduced by the presence of the shield generator

How to use

The Leviathan is intended for heavy fire support of the resistance army. With multiple weapons and high overall damage output, it is a serious threat to the whole confederation army.

Harassment - The Leviathan has strong armor and very high firepower, and is capable of dealing massive damage to enemy troops. The leviathan can be used to attack an army on its own, given there isn't much anti air present. The 3 sets of autocannons are capable of damaging many enemy troops and pushing an enemy back. Perfect on medium maps where the Leviathan can quickly be assisted by porcupines or land troops in case it gets overwhelmed.

Softening up the enemy - This is a very important use of the Leviathan, because of the tactical nuclear strike. The nuclear missile can be used to target an enemy army before engaging with land troops. This significantly increases the chances for victory. However, to launch a nuclear strike the leviathan must enter enemy anti air territory, so it is important to act quickly and retreat as soon as possible to prevent loss of the Leviathan.

Bullet sponge - The leviathan can be sent ahead of the army to soak up damage and then retreat, while the main army deals damage from below. Attacking with the Leviathan ahead can also scatter the enemy formation, and cause the enemy to retreat, letting you engage the enemy at an advantage.
