Brazil

Introduction

Brazil includes the 7th up till the 12th mission and is where the players is slowly expected to solve the issues along the way of the mission without help.

Mission 7

The goal of the mission is to escort an allied vehicle to its goal and is pretty much straight forward. The allied vehicle, a Fortress will follow the direct route, meaning it will drive down the hill and then move directly alongside the road towards its goal. Along this path, multiple groups of enemy units are waiting. This movement, without explicitly saying so unlocks the "move at the same speed" command for units, which is useful for keeping the faster Assaults and Heavy Assaults behind the Fortresses and therefore avoids friendly fire from its flames. This also draws most of the enemy attacks to those heavily fortified vehicles and therefore avoids losses, which increases the final mission rating, as every loss would otherwise result in a point reduction.

The first engagement awaits below the hill and the next one after at the road intersection. There is no way to avoid them, so fighting and killing those units before the allied vehicle arrives is critical. The last and biggest engagement, for which one is provided with a Common Attack Boost is at the village.

With additional unit management, the losses can be avoided further by using only the following parts of the army for each engagement:

Engagement 1: Coyotes - countered by Fortress and Heavy Assault

Engagement 2: infantry - countered by Fortress and Assault

Engagement 3: mainly infantry - countered by Fortress and Assault

While waiting for the allied vehicle to finish its job the player will be attacked by a smaller force from the west and a bigger force from the north. It's best to use 1 Fortress, 2 Assaults and 2 Heavy Assaults to defend from the west, while the other troops should be used to defend from the north.

After this is finished, the next goal is to intercept the enemy Transport Vehicle convoy. The best place to do so is the center of the map as it moves directly along the road. To minimize loses it is important to attack it from the side, as otherwise the Transport Vehicles (which won't stop) might move directly between the units and cause friendly fire from the Fortresses. It is also advisable to first destroy the enemy units that can fight back, even if this causes some of the transports to escape, this is not a big issue as both infantry units can catch up to it easily due to their superior speed.

The last mission goal is to fight and destroy the enemy vehicle depot which is only lightly protected. The most important part is to once again keep the Fortresses at the front to soak up damage. The Heavy Assaults should go after the Armadillo and the Assaults after the Grenadier while the Fortresses finish off the Riflemen.

Mission 8

In this mission the player is introduced to flags and their functionality. At the start of the battle the flag will automatically be attacked by the player's units, something that can (and also should) not be avoided. It is as simple as letting the units capture the flag.

Afterwards the main goal of the mission is to hold the flag for 5 minutes. It is NOT required to attack the enemy base, just to hold the flag. The enemy base should actually be avoided at all costs, as getting too close, can accidentally draw a big enemy army towards the flag. A good rule of thumb of how close one can get are the container to the north-east of the flag on the road and to the south-east of the flag on the small hill. These containers along with the other 4 that are spread around the map are a requirement for the secondary mission.

2 more containers can be found to the south-west of the player's base and are unprotected, which means a single Assault is enough to collect them. The 2 containers on the east side of the map on the other hand are protected by a very small group of infantry for which either 2-3 Assaults or a single Fortress are enough to capture them. When fetching those containers, it is important to also look on top of the hill as one of them will be hidden there.

While doing so, there are certain tasks that need to be done to ensure victory. First it is important to have 1 Assault Vehicle Factory and 2 level 2 Barracks and produce Fortresses and Heavy Assaults as reinforcement for the flag. and should be sent down as soon as possible as the remaining units at the flag won't be able to defend it indefinitely. These reinforcements should not be moved along the main road directly to the flag, but instead along the western map border, as there won't be any units there to pick off the reinforcements.

During all this, the player base will be attacked occasionally from both the east and the south. To secure the east, it is enough to place a Bunker. To defend the southern side, a Bunker can also be enough, but having 2-3 heavy assaults to reinforce it is recommended.

Mission 9

This mission is the first unguided multi stage mission and is notably more complex than the previous mission. First off it is recommended to upgrade not just 1 Assault Vehicle Factory to level 2 like the game says, but instead 2 of them. To protect the base, 2 Bunkers should be placed to the east of the Headquarters and the right Assault Vehicle Factory.

To defeat the outpost in the south-west, an army of at least 10 Hammers is recommended. A good trick to keep all of them alive and to avoid loses is to move the badly hurt vehicles behind the other vehicles.

Meanwhile, to protect the expert group, the infantry given at the start and 2 additional Hammers should be used as they will be able to defeat the opponents going after it. It is important to always keep the army in front of the expert vehicle and not to just tag along behind it.

After all of this the only goal remaining is to destroy the main base in the south-east. It is protected mainly by vehicles, as well as a Sniper Tower and should be attacked with at least 20 Hammers to ensure victory.

Mission 10

The main goal of this mission is to destroy the enemy base, to which 3 linear paths lead that are surrounded by forest and can have infantry hidden inside them. Start out by sending 1 Assault to the south-east path on which there are 2 containers. Split the rest of the army into two equally sized armies and send one to the east and one to the south. There you can gain 1 container without fighting on each side and a second one by fighting a small enemy force in each of the 2 map corners.

Meanwhile it is recommended to start base construction in the following way:

1 Construction Yard

1 Power Plant

3 Supply Center

1 Power Plant

2 Barracks (level 2)

2 Assault Vehicle Factories (level 1)

It is enough to stay on Headquarters level 1 and upgrading it will just delay the player's advance. The now built production buildings should now be used to produce a combination of Fortresses and Heavy Assaults. In this mission the full interface is already available. In the bottom left corner of the screen ,directly above the button used to construct buildings, there is now a new button to access the unit quick order bar. There unit production can be started without having to worry about manually taping each production building to manually distribute the unit production.

By now the part of the army in the south-west corner should have conquered the container and should now retreat and then move out to support the army in the north-east corner of the map, where the goal is to destroy an enemy unit convoy with an Armadillo as target. If some new units are already produced by that time they can be sent as support into that corner too.

After destroying the enemy armadillo send the meanwhile newly produced units to the central island of the map. Then proceed to attack the enemy base in the south-east corner of the map simultaneously from both sides and like always its good to remember to have the Fortresses in the front to draw most of the enemy unit's damage to themselves.

Mission 11

The main goal of the mission is to introduce the player to more complex flag capturing, something that can be quite challenging when done the normal way, but there is a way to make the mission a lot easier to pull of successfully. By performing a Construction Yard hop, a way of getting defensive buildings further away from the player's base than normally possible.

This tactic is good to know as it can also be very useful not just against the AI but also against other players.

The main requirement is to be at Headquarters level 2 (it allows a player to build a second Construction Yard), something that is already the case at the beginning of the mission. The next step is to send out 1 assault to the west and gather the container there. Afterwards all units need to be used to conquer the central flag. Meanwhile the base should be expanded to have 2 Power Plants and 3 Supply Centers.

Afterwards, start by placing a Bunker towards the west of the base and then place a Construction Yard as far as possible towards the central flag. After its construction is complete, delete the Construction Yard yard closest to the base. This allows placing another Construction Yard from within the range of the new one and therefore extent the range of how far away from the Headquarters buildings can be constructed. This needs to be repeated until it is possible to place 2 Bunkers on the central flag, which should be oriented in a way to best defend from attacks from the west. Don't forget to repair them between each wave of attacks.

North and east of the flag there is one container each which can be used to more easily gain the resources for this maneuver. Note that during the construction of the defenses they need to still be defended, as buildings under construction have no Armor and take significantly more damage. An Assault can also be sent to the north-east of the map where (still on top of the hill) another third container can be collected. Then use all remaining units to capture the northern flag.

While going on this conquest 2 Barracks (level 2) and 2 Assault Vehicle Factories should be constructed from which an army of Heavy Assaults and Fortresses can be produced to take over the south-western flag. While conquering it, 2 additional containers can be found, which will be useful to add additional unit to both the south-west and northern flag. At some point it can also make sense to add a Rocket Tower to the central flag.

After all 3 flags are captured the only requirement left to win the mission is to hold them for 3 minutes. This means that to finish the scenario within 15 minutes (secondary objective) one has to capture all 3 flags before 9 minutes game time. So that there are still 3 minutes left to destroy the enemy base. This is relatively straight forward as conveniently one already has 2 armies at the northern and south east flag which can then be used to simultaneously attack the enemy base in the north-west and complete the scenario. When destroying the base Sniper Towers should once again be the priority to destroy while keeping the Fortresses in front of the army.

Mission 12

The main goal of this mission is to introduce the player to avia units like the Cyclone and their counter, anti-air units like the Porcupine. The resistance obviously also has avia units and the Confederation also has anti-air units, but they aren't relevant yet.

This mission is a lot more straight forward than the previous missions. It's enough to build a base with 3 Supply Centers and 2 Power Plants and then produce Heavy Assaults from 2 barracks and Assaults from 1 Barracks. With 20 infantry units, one can then one by one start to attack the 3 positions with Porcupines and in between replace lost units. It is recommended to fortify both base entrances with a Bunker. Close to each anti-air units there are also containers which make this easier.

Meanwhile upgrade to Headquarters level 2 and prepare an army as big as the first one used to destroy the enemy anti-air.

After destroying all 3 Porcupines one can use one army to attack the east of the enemy base and one to attack its south. The best moment for this is when the allied Cyclones arrive at the enemy base.
