Hammer

Fast and Precise

The Hammer is the Confederation's bread and butter when it comes to vehicular combat, they are relatively cheap and quick to build at HQ 2, match the speed of resistance units with ease, are fairly durable and can trade blow for blow against other tanks while constantly staying on the move to avoid return fire.

Strengths

  • Very fast with a good damage output against tanks and buildings

  • Fairly inexpensive to produce and don’t take up as much CP as their counterpart

  • Excels at executing hit and run attacks or flanking

  • Will easily trounce both Jaguars and Zeus due to their limited numbers till HQ 4

  • Costs less CP to maintain on the field as their Armadillo counterpart

Weaknesses

  • Cannot attack Air units at all

  • Is fairly helpless against infantry on its own

  • Can be warded off with mines

  • Will eat through your resources very quickly if you use them in a rush

  • Slightly more expensive than the Armadillo

How to use

Their main purpose is to use their speed and high firepower to engage enemy vehicles and buildings alike, as they should be supported by both anti-air and infantry as they are fairly helpless against anything else, however, their high mobility and damage allow them to quickly take small fights and retreat with minimal losses against most conventional forces as long as they are unprepared.

As such the effectiveness of Hammers varies based on what kind of map you are playing, as open maps grant more opportunities to hit the enemy from an unprotected angle, allowing to quickly swing a game in your favor by destroying buildings before your enemy can react in time or by simply exerting pressure on your enemy in denying them free movement on the map. On a smaller or less open map however, Hammers are a lot more restricted as they cannot move around freely and thus makes it easier to intercept them before doing damage.

Due to being able to be quickly produced early on, Hammers in large numbers can even take fights against Jaguars and Zeus’ as you can have up to 3 level 2 Factories running once you get to HQ 3, which, if being kept at full production will vastly outperform said opponents in sheer mass and speed as those units are limited by only having access to 1 level 3 factory until upgrading to HQ 4 is finished. Just keep in mind that there is a good chance for air units or large quantities of infantry to appear alongside them so prepare accordingly.

As long as the map is very open, it is even able to compete with Jaguar and Chameleon army compositions, as long as it is supported by an Energy Shield. In such an engagement, the trick is to simply drive into the cloud and try to stay there until the enemy units are killed.
