The Space System is a very expensive weapon of mass destruction that is used to annihilate everything in its path.
The Space System is first unlocked at HQ5 and does not require any production buildings to be built first, which means that it can be built when it is least expected. Its biggest weakness are avia units, which can take it out swiftly, so the enemy better not know about it.
Rush:
At high ranks it is possible to just build a few defenses and walls and directly go for a Space System and use it before the enemy even expects it. This comes at a high risk though, as the high cost, leaves the player vulnerable for an extended period of time. This strategy is highly frowned upon by the player-base, especially Resistance players, but is a valid strategy nonetheless. This is especially the case on camping maps like Simoom, Bad Luck or Bottleneck, where it can avoid very long stalemate games by ending them quickly.
Bait:
The Confederation's super weapon has a significant part of its cost as energy usage, which means that the building itself is not too expensive to sacrifice in late-game. When the base is heavily fortified by Air Defenses to let the opponent know on purpose that one has a Space System, as this will cause them to immediately attack it with their avia.
As long as at least 4 Hawks are killed, it is a positive trade that costs the attacking player more resources than the one who built the superweapon. So in cases where a lot more than 4 Hawks are shot down, a huge resource advantage can be gained, as the enemy is slowly bled dry every time they have to destroy their avia.
Going for this tactic isn't as risky as one would think, as it can still actually be used if the enemy doesn't fall for it.
Army Breaker:
Some maps have a lot of narrow pathways, allowing one to stall enemy armies in a certain position for longer periods of time. This can be used to annihilate the army by aiming a Space Strike at this location, resulting in the destruction of the entire enemy army, leaving the enemy completely defenseless and leading to an easy win, assuming one is willing to take the risk. If one isn't able to hit the army, a huge investment will have been for nothing. A few factors that can increase the chance of successfully hitting the army.

Before the Battle begins:
Upon the completion of campaign mission 49 a special, 3-part mission is unlocked. It requires winning 20 tournament battles, reaching rank 13 and completing mission 50. After this is completed, the Space system can be researched in the upgrade menu.
During the Battle:
Headquarters level 5, a Construction Yard as well as the resources shown in-game are the only requirements to build it.
