60% written assignment; 20% moot exercise; 20% class participation



COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides students with an overview of the appeals process in Canadian law.  Topics covered include: jusisdiction; parties and standing; standards of review; the appeal record/evidence on appeal; written and oral appellate advocacy; appellate relief; and procedural matters relating to appeals.



SPECIAL COMMENTS

This is a practice-focused course and assignments are designed to prepare students for articling.


Course is offered on an alternating schedule, next planned for 2024-25.
