COURSE DESCRIPTION

This seminar offers a critical exploration of the relationship between international law and global corporations. Global corporations here include transnational or multinational corporations or large companies that are headquartered in one country but often operate in different countries around the world. The class will explore how international law enables and constrains corporations with a global reach. We will also examine how these corporations influence business and society, the environment, and human rights within international law. Overall, this class introduces students to the transnational character of corporate power and its interactions with historical and contemporary issues at the heart of international law.
