COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course explores the relationship between the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government. More specifically, the course explores the legal rules and principles that limit the exercise of administrative action by the state as well as the legal rules and principles that govern judicial review of administrative action. Specific topics include: the rule of law, procedural fairness, substantive reasonableness, standards of judicial review, abuse of discretion, and the relationship between judicial review and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. This course provides students with both theoretical and practical knowledge regarding the practice of administrative law and judicial review.
