COURSE DESCRIPTION

The jurisprudence course will focus on works in the field of analytical jurisprudence and political philosophy, such as Thomas Hobbes, Jeremy Bentham, John Austin, HLA Hart, Ronald Dworkin, and Joseph Raz. We will relating these insights to the field of constitutional theory through the works of William Blackstone, AV Dicey, James Thayer, Oliver Wendell Holmes and others with a particular focus on theoretical insights regarding the legitimate authority of the executive branch.
