COURSE DESCRIPTION

Could you do a better job writing the constitution? Here is your chance. Through two games students will have the opportunity to renegotiate Confederation and rewrite the Charter. the course begins with background to the 1860s. Students are then assigned to represent specific ‘fathers of confederation’ and we run a simulation of the Quebec meeting of October 1864. We conclude with a historic moot. The second half of the course begins with background to 1982. Then teams are created representing provinces, the federal government, and NGOs to simulate negotiations between the mid-1970s and 1981 leading to the 1982 patriation. The course ends with a second moot. There will be prizes.
