METHOD OF EVALUATION

The primary method of evaluation in this course is an essay paper worth 60% of the Grade.


The remainder of the grade in the course will be made up of:

one oral presentation on case study worth 25%

class participation worth 15%



COURSE DESCRIPTION

An introductory course including the history and origin of Canadian Military Law, the Laws of Armed Conflict and Humanitarian Law; Customary & Treaty such as the GENEVA Conventions; National Security Law (Historically Aid of the Civil Power) especially since September 11th;  the Code of Service Discipline (Military Offences & the Courts Martial system) and a look at the relationship of the Canadian Military and the Civilian Courts; The course concludes with a Class visit to an Army Combat unit at Edmonton Garrison.
