COURSE DESCRIPTION

Taught with a view to providing the student with the necessary theoretical background to practice in the area, this course will cover the basic principles which govern the statutory delegation of government authority to administrative boards and tribunals. 

Included in the lecture material will be a discussion of the basic rules of administrative procedure, the manner in which the courts supervise administrative actions through judicial review and the remedies which can be granted. Consideration will also be given to recent jurisprudence regarding the duty to consult and accommodate the interests of Canada’s Indigenous people.
