Scratchboard
this project is incomplete
This is the scratchboard project, where you draw backwards. Since animals are more popularly done on scratchboard, I decided to do my dog, Wallace.
The material used for this project was scratchboard, a think piece of paper with a coat of plastic, clay, and ink on it. The tool I used for this project was the stylus with the triangle/kite shaped nib.
I used the grid technique to copy my image onto the scratchboard. I started with the top left corner and worked towards the right. Wallace turned out to be a difficult subject because he isn't a hairy dog, he's a fluffy curly dog. It took a while to figure out how much black to take off in order to get the right shade.
