Acrylic and Posca Marker on Canvas
This piece is part of the 84 colors project, and it has 36 shades and 36 tints of the 12 colors on the color wheel. The color checklist shows each of the colors used and what shade/tint that they are. The value strips were an intro to mixing the shades and tints so that you could mix the other 81.
The value strips and finished project are both acrylic paints on canvas. The only colors from the bottle that were used are red, yellow, blue, white, and black. Every other color was mixed. The outline on the color project was done with a Posca paint pen, and a little piece was done with a Sharpie paint pen.
The painting is the Fibonacci sequence, also known as the golden ratio, which is a sequence of numbers that can be drawn out into this spiral shape. The reason I picked this for my project was because I was watching a youtube video video about how they use the Fibonacci sequence in the soundtrack of a videogame I like. The golden ratio was also used in part seven of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, which is where I first learned about it and though it was interesting. The hardest part about drawing out the Fibonacci sequence was the fact that I had to do math. The original Fibonacci sequence is larger the the canvas, so I had to ratio the numbers and position it evenly in the middle of the canvas. It took multiple attempts and it's not exactly evenly placed. The next hardest thing was actually finishing the project because I am pretty lazy. It took way longer than it should have and feel like some of the colors look slightly off, but other than that I really like the finished project.
