Clowny clowns
i got no clue
Fabric, thread, wire, and digital painting
This is my third sustained investigation. I sewed the large clown for fun a while ago, and then I decided to use it in this project because the other three mini clowns that I was making all died. I used my Nintendo Switch as a prop in this project, and designed the screen on Photoshop.
Both of the clowns are made with the same fabric, which I'm pretty sure is just cotton. I needle felted the noses and the hair for both of them, but I made the nose on the little clown too big by accident. The small clown has a wire skeleton in it, so I can pose it's legs. Both of them have fuzzy string for arms. The large clown also has little plastic things for eyes, but the smaller one's eyes are acrylic paint. The digital part is in reference to my second sustained investigation. I also had to use photoshop to edit out the lines of the background, because I covered my countertop in pieces of paper to take this picture.
My original plan for this project was to make four little clowns and just take pictures of them posing with my playstation controller and in my PC and stuff. But then the first one died a terrible death because I used it as a guinea pig and messed up the legs. The second one just doesn't exist right now and I decided that I'm giving the third one to my friend so I didn't put him in the project. I decided to add the big one because I could make it look like he was holding the switch. When I did the digital part, I tested if the screen would still reflect the clown even if the switch was on. Since it still reflected, I lowered the opacity of the layer so that you can still see the clown reflections through it. If I changed something about this project, I would add wires to the smaller clowns arms so that I could make it look like it was pressing buttons. I would also make it's nose smaller.
