2D Design

Semester 1 Reflection

In this class, I learned about using photoshop, and also elements of design. I also did a lot of projects that weren't design, and also not very 2D. The only project that I completed that is actually 2D design is the logo project. The rest of the projects are mostly illustrations. That is something that I learned while doing these projects, that there is a very big difference between illustration and design.

Something that I think I've been successful with is making a charceter and following a theme with that character. This started with the circle design project, where I came up with my first clown named Fitzgerald. That was something that randomly came up with, and I thought it would be perfect for the circle project. I kept putting the clowns in all my projects for this class, and my projects in ceramics. So far I've used two different clowns, Fitzgerald, the original one, and Siegfried, the bad with directions clown from the hand narrative project.

Something I definitely struggled with this semester was getting projects in on time, and also just doing good work. I think that a lot of these projects are rushed, and I really should have focused more on them. The only one I'm really proud of is the circle project. I procrastinated a lot this semester, while I really should have spent more time and effort on my projects.

One of my artistic goals in the future is to spend more time and effort on my projects, so that they don't look super rushed or unfinished. I also want to keep doing projects with the clowns, because I like always having an idea to start out with.  I want to do more art outside of school as well, because other than my assignments I don't really draw as much as I used to, so I plan to use the clowns as a way to start doing that.
