Duck Stamp

This is a drawing of a male Bufflehead duck for the duck stamp contest. Out of all the duck options for the contest, I chose the bufflehead because it has a funny name, and it's a pretty color. 

This project was drawn on watercolor paper, and I used alcohol markers to color. The original piece was acrylic on canvas, and take two was watercolor and alcohol marker. I ended up using just alcohol marker at the end because it was the easiest way to get a bright color that was easily blendable for the head. I used a little bit of acrylic paint on th eye and the bill in order to get that bright white.

The color on the duck is very nice and bright, but if I were to change some things about the project, I'd blend the shadow on the green even more. The shadow looks too sharp. I would also improve the water, because it currently looks sort of cartoonish. My mom said it looked great when i finished but then she said it looked like crap two days later, so I really don't know what that means. I think the reflection looks pretty good.
