Paper, Alcohol Marker, and Paint on Cork board
This is a piece inspired by artists from the art history unit. We had two pick at least two artists or art movements and create an art piece inspired by them.
The base for my project is a cork board painted black. Why? I don't know. The other materials used are watercolor paper cutouts and an iPod. Why? I also don't know. The paper pieces are colored with alcohol markers and the iPod has a painted image on it. I also had no glue so that's why everything is taped.
This was not my initial idea for my project, I last minute ditched the original and came up with this. the painting on the iPod is van gogh inspired, and i painted swirly patterns and stars similar to the ones in Starry Night. The paint kept peeling off, so I had to make a picture frame and put plastic over it. The cutouts are inspired by Henri Matisse. Also not the original idea, but it's what I ended up with. Something about how he was interested in the idea of combined art and sound gave me the idea to use the iPod and make sound waves. The whole project was really wacky, but this is just what my brain came up with at 12 am.
