Artist Statement: The Eye of a Shoe
I am really happy how this piece turned out, it is exactly what I pictured in my head going into this project. It was a lot of fun to fill in the space with different colors and designs. I decided to keep all of the shoe lines black and bold so they would be easy to spot when someone was looking at it. I decided to choose the most zoomed in drawing of my shoe to fill with abstarct artwork and color because I felt that I could do the most with the space I had in that zoomed immage than any of the other ones.
For materials I used a 4H graphite drawing pencil, a black sharpie, and water color paints. I used the 4H pencil just for amking the first sketch of the zoomedin shoe, after I sketched that I used the sharpie to draw all of the different designs and to bold up the shoe lines. I decided to go with watercolor paints because I really want to get better using them and I also thought that they would be really goo for coloring in the eye in the center.
Overall I am really happy with this piece of artwork and I am especially pleased with the eye in the center. I modled the eye after my own eye so I am very pleased that it turned out well in the end. I think that this is one of my better paintings that I have done in my lifetime.
