Circle Project

Artist Statement

For this project I had to draw something in a circle, with circles, or really anything with circle included. I was definetly inspired by the artwork done in Beatrix Potter's stories with the line work and watercolor which is why I chose it for my medium. The subject of the piece was really just something I made up, probably related to my love of the fantasy genre.

The materials I used for this piece were graphite pencil for the sketching, a black fine point pen for the line work, and watercolor paints for the majority of the color with a couple of details like the people and the runes on the portal in watercolor pen,

I started by drawing, in graphite, a circle and then drawing all of the roots so I would know where to draw the portal. I do wish I had drawn a better base for the portal rather than just a rectangular block. After that was all done I did the line work and filled it in with color.
