Artist Statement: Candy!

For this piece I chose three pieces of candy to draw and layed them out in a cirtain way so that I could minimise the amount of negitive space. After I layed them out, I took a picture of the scene I had just set up so I could have a reference that would not change. I first sketched out pure contour drawings of all of the candies in pencil. Then, I colored them in using watercolor paints.

For materials, I used a 4H graphite drawing pencil and an eraser to draw the candy. For color, I used watercolor paints but I think a better coice would have been markers or colored pencils

The only thing that I like about this drawing was all of pure contours I made of the candy, without the color it looked really good and realistic. My least favorite thing is the color. I feel that I did a terrible job with the color and I wish I didn't color it at all. That is also what I want to change, if I were to make another piece like this, I would either not use color or choose a different material to color it. Overall, because of the color, I don't really like this piece because it looks sloppy .
