Extended Blind Contour

The Big Blue Giant

Materials: 01 Drawing pen, Watercolor Brush Pens

Size: 12"x 9"

Artist Statement: The Big Blue Giant

For this project we had to draw three blind contours all on the same paper, one of our hand, one self portrait, and one thing that we could see, I chose my desk lamp. Then we got told we had to make the mess of lines into something. Overall I liked this project because I got to just mess around and have fun with it, and that is much different than our other assignments that we get where we actually have to try extremely hard to make the pieces look good,

For materials I used a 01 drawing pen for the blind contours and all of the outlines and some watercolor brush pens for the color. I tried to make everything as messy as I could with the pen and the colors without making it look like a huge, unrecognizable mess.

After I drew the three flying contours I decided to keep with a messy, abstract theme because the blind contours were a giant mess of unrecognizable lines. I decided to draw a giant because it was one of the first things I saw when I started to rotate the paper around for different perspectives. My hand and self portrait blind contours make up the face while the blind contour I did of my lamp was one of the arms. For a background I decided to make a destroyed city to add more to the story behind the picture. I also added a little person in front of the giant to help show the scale of the giant.
