Stars & Stripes Redesign

Artist Statement:

For this piece I had to incorporate the "Stars and Stripes" into my work only using the colors of red, white, blue, and black.

For materials I used graphite pencil to plan everything out and then colored it using acrylic paints. I have used acrylic paints in the past and I really didn't like using them; this time, however, I definetly enjoyed using them more, though they definetly still won't be my preferred material to work with.

I pretty much knew right away what I wanted to depict in my piece and the sketch was my first idea. I am quite happy how it turned out with only a couple of tweaks I would make mainly to the rope around the star and my signature which part of it was ripped off when I took off the tape I used to make a clean border. If I were to do this project again I would probably do it digitally to get my lines and colors clearer and more sharp.
