Artist Statement:
For this project I sketched out the girl in the center first and then all of the sections for the colors around her. I then started painting the colors first and the the girl last. I think that the hardest and most annoying oart of this painting was all of the mixing I had to do, that is probably why I painted all of the colors first; to get them out of the way.
For materials I used a graphite drawing pencil for the sketching along with an eraser, and for paint I used acrylic paint.
I have mixed feelings about my painting. The thing I like most about my painting is how the colors turned out, I think that they feel like they are layering over each other which gives off a nice effect. I am not feeling so great about the girls though. What I will say is that she looked better as a sketch. I think that she looks weird because of her hair color, the hair just ended up looking like one solid mass. If I were to change anything it would be the color of the girl's hair to maybe brown or red. Overall, I think that it turned out pretty well but I think I will stick to drawing.
